Excellent at Ipswich last night.
Good four numbers by Alison, liked John Lee Hooker's Boom Boom best as I hadn't heard her do that before and she seemed to really enjoy that one.
Shame that after her four songs Alison didn't then come back on stage later - all three of the other guest singers did. Maybe our flag scared her off.
However, must say that the whole eve was top stuff - over 20 in Jool's band, they each had solo's and all really got in to it. 'What a wonderful world' raggae style by the 80 year old trombonist was fun, and Ruby Turner really let rip at times.
The gates opened at 5.00 with the first of two support acts on at 6.30, Jools started at 8.30. We got there at 5.30 which was just right and I would suggest similar to those of you going to any of the remaining open air concerts - we sat a couple of rows back which was lucky as it turned out, had we sat at the very front then our gear would have got trample on by those (including us) who moved into the space left by the stage for those who wanted a close piece of the action/dance. Indeed, I suggest that as soon as the second support act finishes you move down the front to the cleared standing/dancing area as that is the fun place to be. Good to see all up close in my view, it is only then that you get a real feel for the band, see their facial contortions, etc. If the place you will be at is anything like Ipswich (very relaxed) then it will be fine to leave you chairs, picnic etc where they are.
Just wish I was going again.
